Looking for things to introduce to your self-care routine? Try a few items that are less intensive on the environment!
There are currently many eco-friendly solutions for us to make the swap quickly. Here are a few items that have caught our eye recently include those that reduce our plastic use and those that are single-use.
Natural Deodorant
We have been loving natural deodorants and brands like MIKLO and ATTITUDE. Both companies have created a product with natural ingredients and one completely packaged in paper.

Solid Shampoo, Soap & Conditioner
Remembering our first purchases of solid products, there were few options. Mainly just generic brands of bar soap. Now, you can have solid products for varying hair types, skin types, and scent preferences, many of which can be made locally. Brands we enjoy include LUSH (especially under their plastic-free section) and Davines for salon-quality solid products. Although the list continues, some of the best products can be found at your local zero-waste store.

Natural Loofah
Did you know your colourful loofah is named after a natural plant? A plant that naturally can be used in the shower for the same purpose of frothing up your soap or body wash! If this is news to you, it’s time to give one a go. The best part is that you can compost it once you are finished using your loofah or it has reached the end of its useful life. They can be found at zero waste or sustainable stores and online. Appearing in their natural cylindrical shape or compressed into a sponge, which can also be used in the kitchen.

Make Up Removal
Let’s make a pledge to stop using make-up remover wipes together! These single-use wipes are hard on the planet and, most of the time, aren’t excellent for our skin. It is clear the convince of a wipe is hard to beat, but we have some options that are also one step! Great options to check out include reusable cotton rounds, easy substitute for a regular single use round. A MakeUp Eraser, this one only requires water to remove makeup from your skin. A cleansing oil or balm, this option removes the need for a cloth outside of the one you will use to dry your face.

Refillable
The refillable market is growing, and you can now find almost everything you need in your home in this format. Most cities now have a few refilleries where you can purchase or bring your own jars and fill them up with the needed items! Shampoo, conditioner, body washes, you name it, you can find it!

Small Items
Swap out single-use floss picks for a Waterpik that is easy to use and clean. This swap can also help us join the mythical people who floss daily! Reusable picks are also available on the market; you must switch out the floss strand.
Q-Tips or cotton swabs, we aren’t supposed to put these in our ears, apparently…! But they do serve a great purpose. Reusable options are available now; here is one that we like.
